Inquest is our superior data collection tool that allows us to build custom survey solutions to your specifications and needs. Through seamless integration with Synapse, our workflow engine, Inquest provides real-time dynamic presentation of content depending on your participants’ responses. With Inquest, you can brand your surveys with your own logo, URL, color scheme, and personalize the presentation with participant data. Our comprehensive set of question types includes those with basic inputs, advanced inputs, and special question types. Multiple configuration options are available for each question type, such as optional constraints, validations, and different formatting. Replicant questions, unique to Inquest, are a specialized form of question that render a template of inputs repeatedly. The sections can be dynamically added by the user, or preset based on predefined values. Our longitudinal function is best leveraged for surveys that are repeated over time, and allows your participants to see how they responded previously.
All Inquest surveys are built through an importer, guaranteeing that human transcription error is not introduced into your questions and responses. Our design optimization ensures subjects can easily participate using their smartphone, tablet, or computer. Regardless of length and complexity of your survey, Inquest delivers consistent data collection results, giving you peace of mind and assurance that your data is secure and reliable.
Tempus has been a fantastic research partner in much of the survey work I’ve done, and they’ve genuinely helped me elevate my data collection and general research workflow to a level I never thought possible as an individual investigator.
Although a very small number of features were not available in the platform (e.g., midpoints on visual analog scales), workarounds were always provided, and there were very few “hard nos”—in most cases, the biggest “barrier” to something I asked to do would be that additional time/money would be needed to build out a new feature beyond what was currently available on our end, although Tempus was still willing to devote the work toward it if we had met their parameters for the job.
The Tempus platform/workflow has been particularly useful for surveys with complex sampling schemes (stratifying on demographics to meet certain quotas, combining existing clinical data and custom screening forms to determine inclusion, longitudinal studies with dynamic inclusion/exclusion criteria, etc.), and many of the features I’ve had them build out for me over the years have been to allow me to incorporate more control over the participants recruited into my sample or retained after checking some metric of data quality.
The online workflow was efficient, intuitive and easy to incorporate into the workflow of our projects as a whole. The surveys and emails were extremely useful for introducing our studies to possible participants. In fact, participation greatly facilitated recruitment of individuals into our project!
Online implementation of surveys with the Tempus platform has given our research team the opportunity to scale data collection globally and efficiently in order to enhance our impact on scientific and clinical advances in understanding genetic neurodevelopmental disorders.
Tempus data reports are instrumental to understand what is working well in our research program, and what needs more attention.
While much of our research is standard survey-based data collection, we have had a number of projects that require more bespoke solutions, like accessing the webcam of a participant or integrating with custom applications running on our own servers. Many professionals would have sighed or winced at some of our “outside the box” needs, but Tempus has always been eager to push the boundaries to enable more interesting research.
